An introduction for two to Britain's number one predators
Tour the venue and learn about the art of hawking
Meet birds of prey and get used to handling them
Get gloved up and fly a bird to the fist
A great opportunity for two to try out the hallowed art of falconry. Ideal for bird of prey enthusiasts or those who might be curious about Britain's number one predators; this experience both entertains and educates. The session begins with a tour of the chosen venue; learn about the history of the sport, different species of birds of prey and what makes each one different. Then, an experienced bird handler introduces you both to some birds so you can get comfortable handling them and prepare to try out falconry first-hand. For the main event, get gloved up and experience the speed and strength of the creatures when flying a bird to the fist. It's a feeling that is hard to forget.
Days available will depend upon your choice of venue; please check before booking. Dates generally fill quickly, so book several weeks in advance and allow even longer for popular summer weekend dates.
Minimum age varies from 6 to 16 (depending on venue). You need to be reasonably fit as the day involves a fair amount of walking, at some venues over uneven ground.
The weather may affect this experience. Some venues require a call to check the weather before setting out. If the experience is cancelled it will be re-booked for an alternative date.
Lasts approximately three hours.
