About the experience
Take control of a steam engine on a 5/8th scale, 15'' gauge railway through Sherwood Forest. Beginning with a safety briefing, jump aboard the train for a one-to-one lesson. Start on the easy section of the track to get a feel for the job in hand, before graduating to the entire length of the Sherwood Forest Railway, the only narrow gauge steam railway in Nottinghamshire. Travelling through gorgeous rural scenery, an experienced tutor is with you every step of the way, giving tips, information and fun facts about the locos. The line which started as a dream in the late 1990s now boasts two level crossings, a tunnel and two stations. This experience is a must-try for any self-respecting rail enthusiast.
