Afternoon Tea Baking Class at The Dough House for One

As the title says I did enjoy this experience but there were a few things that were disappointing and took away from the value of it. The Dough House is a really lovely setting with lots of attention to detail that gave a nice atmosphere. Jo was absolutely lovely and a great host, however I was disappointed not to be baking with Fulden as stated, Fulden is the originator of the recipes and the cook/baker. Absolutely no slight to Jo but as she explains she is a florist not a baker and this showed a couple of times as the technical explanations weren't always there and some of the baking results were affected by too high an oven temperature. The clotted cream was a winner though. The experience 'blurb' does state an expert and I would have liked to have been able to ask questions and increase my knowledge. I wasn't alone in not realising that it was mainly a cooking/baking demonstration really with people invited to join in stirring/pouring etc to create one dish rather than our own. We did each get to make a batch of scones though. I was impressed with the equipment and ingredients for this part. Everything super cold, great quality and variety plus good tools. We then sat to eat what had been made and take home left overs and our wee pot of jam. I didn't get my authentic piece of china though! I really do think that the explanations of the experience need updating so people are really clear what they are booking on to, as I said I wasn't the only one and looking back now I still don't think it is that clear. I was really keen to buy an experience for my husband but without being sure what it actually is and isn't I'm put off.
