Let Down

From the start by ushering us into a small library rather than the stated Crystal Restaurant the afternoon tea was off to a bad start. My partner was served tea quite quickly. I wanted to wait for a coffee. Then sandwiches and cake were served. Then the waitress disappeared for the rest of the meal. No offers to top up the, now cold tea, and no glass of champagne which was included. After me going to reception and being told that champagne was not included I asked them to recheck the Red Letter Day voucher. Our champagne was then served. A miserable barely half a glass. At this point I asked for a coffee which was served but still no offer of fresh tea for my partner . The sandwiches were OK and the scones were very nice. "Two" of the cakes were simply one cut in half and topped with cheap aerosol cream. The panna cotta type stuff was very sloppy. There was a dry chocolate sponge and a small cube of cheesecake, Despite waiting for 10 minutes after finishing there was no sign of any waiting staff so we just left.
