Motor Racing at Thruxton

Single-seater racing car driving is massively different to driving a road car. This Formula 1 style racing car positions the driver just inches off the ground, with legs stretched out into the nose, for a unique driving experience. Take to the track after a safety briefing, first of all being driven in an Octavia by the instructor and gain some insight into the racing lines and learn where to brake. When you are ready, proceed to drive the Porsche Cayman for three laps of the 2.4 mile Thruxton circuit before you slide into the Formula Renault single-seater for five exhilarating laps. That's a total of 19 miles driving! End with a high-speed passenger ride with a pro driving an Octavia VRS.

• Availability Description

  At least two Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays per month from February to November. Dates fill very quickly, so please allow at least six weeks advance booking notice.

• Participant Guidelines

  Minimum height is 5'1'', maximum is 6'5''. Maximum weight is 18 stone. All participants must sign a disclaimer confirming a full British or international manual driving licence and good health.

• Weather

  Motor racing may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather conditions (e.g. snow, ice or severe rain) which would make driving at speed dangerous. Please call the venue if in doubt. Any unused laps are credited for another visit.

• Duration Detail

  Lasts around two and a half hours, including a briefing, demo lap, 19 miles driving time and a high speed passenger ride.

• Numbers On The Day

  All in-car tuition is on a one-to-one basis, briefings are shared with up to 16 people.

• Dress Code

  Dress comfortably (preferably avoiding synthetic clothing). A helmet and any special clothing is provided.

  All our vouchers are fully flexible and can be redeemed against our huge range of experiences. Thruxton is one of the fastest circuits in the UK and a popular course in the British Touring Car championships. For safety reasons, revs are limited. Buy extra laps in the Formula Renault on the day, subject to availability.
