Nice but not 5-star

Stayed one night at this 5-star hotel for our 25th Anniversary. We expected a 5-star service, however it was more akin to a holiday inn express. When we arrived the reception area is soulless, they required to take a hard copy of your ID and leave a £50 damage deposit. Why they need to take a copy and how this safeguard your this data was not explained. I'd expect these checks at a low cost B&B, but not a 5-star Hotel. The room was spacious, some biscuit wrappers left from the last guests on the shelves that the cleaners had missed. Very quiet rooms and breakfast was good. Overall a good night away, but missing the mark in a lot of areas to justify the £300 a night and claim its a 5-star.

Overnight stay

The birthday desert was not provided as promised by the hotel, there was a problem with the shower which resulted in flooding in the bathroom and I was wrongly informed about the breakfast close time. Other than this, the hotel overall was a nice stay and I would give it another chance irrespective of the previous issues mentioned. A clean and good-looking environment.
