A really lovely gift (a Christmas present). We went in late May and it was all wonderful. The tour guide (John?) was also the curator of the castle, and was knowledgeable, entertaining and personable, and did an excellent job, so it was both educational and enjoyable. Perfect for history lovers! The cream tea was fresh and delicious, and savoured while sitting out at a bench in the castle garden - serene and beautiful surroundings. Before we left we had a chat with the the lady of the manor who was forthright and very charming!
It may be small as 'castles' go but is full of interest, lots of history, and charm. It's beautifully and lovingly kept. A visit and a place that I will remember. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant.
The whole visit left a very favourable impression. We are resolved to go back for another visit and enjoy it all over again.
