Two Night Escape to a Castle for Two

This break left a lot to be desired. In the allocated room (201) there was a persistent and intolerable buzzing noise. A very helpful member of the mainenance staff said that it was caused by the kitchen extractor unit which was located direclt outside the room. He helped us to relocate to another room (106). Unfortunately this room was not as good as the original one, smaller, no armchair, smaller bed. Breakfast was not the experience one would have wished for. There was a continental buffet which included a small choice of cereals (Rice Krispies, Bran Flakes, Coco Pops I think and Weetabix), some fruit, yoghurts and pastries. Porridge was not offered among the cereals but included in the hot food offerings which meant that a guest could not have porridge followed by the English breakfast which is commonplace at every hotel I have stayed at. Just under half of the items on the menu for hot breakfasts were available at an additional cost. These items included omelettes and Eggs Benedict which are usually included on the menu at no extra cost. I selected the English breakfast which was barely warm with the exception of the egg which was cold. On the second morning I took the Porridge which was just about warm enough to eat. We also had dinner in the hotel and some of that food was also just about warm. In summary, we were expecting a comfortable stay with good food but were left disappointed.
