Taste Sensation
Had a fantastic time at the Brewhouse and Kitchen, Islington. The range of beers that were sampled was really diverse ranging from pilsners, wheat beers to Belgian style classics. The guide was very knowledgeable and it was nice just to sit around the table and enjoy the beers without having to walk around the brewery process. The food was excellent too and there was no rush to leave once the tasting session had ended. Thoroughly recommend it.

Beer Master Class
Was a little apprehensive of what exactly this would entail at first but was a thoroughly enjoyable experience with an eclectic range of beers (4 - 8+%) to sample. A couple of the beers were definitely not to my taste but good to try something different that I would not necessarily order. The gourmet burger was excellent and most appreciated after 2 hours drinking a range of light refreshing craft lagers to the darker, fuller flavoured stronger stout beers. The host was attentive and knowledgeable and made the afternoon relaxing and a good laugh. Was on a table with two other couples that were also good company and made the day an entertaining and pleasurable event. The venue was in an old historic building and we were ideally situated on a table in front of the brewing vats. Would recommend this event just make sure you are not driving!

Not as expected
Although the guy giving the talk was very good , it boiled down to just being a beer tasting exercise not a brewing implement in site very disappointed and the food choice was just as bad.

Disappointing
The person (DJ) we had was newly qualified. He was lovely & enthusiastic. Did feel a bit textbook at times, but the more he does and the knowledge he gains, he will be even better. Well done DJ ??The experience itself wasn't what i expected though. Didn't realise it was in a pub. I thought we were going for a tour of a brewery, but it was just the stills in the corner. They weren't even being used and no mention was made about the process of brewing. A couple of beers were not available, so were substituted. There were none available to buy. The "buy your beers here" fridge was empty. I did ask. Kind of defeats the point of going if you can't buy what you've tasted. They are missing a trick. Place itself was grubby. Sticky floor, glasses not clean, surfaces were dusty and you could see the ring prints where kegs had been moved. The stools were disgusting, wobbly, badly stained and some were worn right through. Also, the house adverts on the TV - VERY bizarre! Odd nude people drinking beer and reacting to the flavour. Most surreal! The ladies had no loo roll in by 2pm, not sure when those were last checked. Thought we were getting a good price, paid £70 . But if we turned up directly we would have paid £25 for the class, and an additional beer and burger was £10. So no saving at all. Infact would have got a couple of additional beers! The food was alright at best - very basic. I expected gourmet. These seem small things, but together made the overall experience "meh, it was ok", rather than "that was great". Came away saying, "well, it was something different to do on an a saturday afternoon". Finally - safety point. On arrival, 2 jars of hops on table as part of set up. Half hour after arrival told " the only serious thing about the masterclass is don't taste the hops as you will lose your sense of taste for 2 weeks!" Perhaps don't leave them on the table before the class begins, or put a safety warning on the jars!!! Happy for you to contact me. Thanks.

Great evening
Unfortunately I can’t remember our hosts name in Gloucester but he was very passionate about the subject and worked hard to make it a good evening.
