One Night Break for Two at Clifton Park Hotel with Dinner

Unfortunately the standard room at the Clifton Park Hotel that is part of the package is SUB standard and really needs to be upgraded as it knocks the edge of the good parts of the hotel. The pics below show the position of one of the twin beds right up against the window and the second pic shows the view from that window. The other twin bed was across the room at 90 deg to the other as room wasn't big enough to have them side by side. There was no other window so you had to have the lights on all the time. The room was dusty with a very old carpet, old fashioned furnishings and poor decoration. The ensuite was minute; the plumbing dubious. The toilet didn't flush effectively the first time, sometimes not even the second time. The washbasin S trap drained away - gurgling- and left a direct sewer connection and terrible smell so you had to be sure to run a little water into the basin after every use so you had a water trap. The room had no air conditioning and was very hot (22deg) and stuffy even with the window opened a little. We weren't told when we booked that we would be entering a Turkey and Tinsel weekend at an old folks home and that day was New Years Eve! Took us a bit by surprise but there was entertainment after the evening dinner which was a bit of a bonus. The pool and Jacuzzi were good and well organised. Generally the food was good and the staff were excellent
