After several complications trying to redeem my voucher I eventually managed to exchange my voucher which was a value of £110. For a one night break (£89.99) experience at The Talbot Inn Woking.
Firstly I do not appear to have any credit left as i obviously did not use full value of the voucher.
The hotel: we received a warm friendly welcome from reception upon arrival. Unfortunately the room we were put in was very dated & dirty. The room had many large cob webs which had clearly been there for several weeks. The room itself was in need of a full refurb. Old dirty net curtains at window. A cheap blind & holes which had been patched up where once a curtain pole must have been. Peeling paint around inside of windows & window sill. The furniture in room was old and dated with dust and dirt on. The bathroom needed a very good deep clean. The shower cubicle had black mould on many of tlies and around shower cubicle. The soap in the containers were nearly empty & containers needed a good clean. We even shared the bed with a spider!!
We had a conversation with the receptionist who apologised & offered to clean it. So he arranged to go into our room when we went out for evening meal. We came back to find one of the cobwebs removed (there were others still there) the soap containers replenished & a strong smell of polish that must’ve been sprayed around the room.
Breakfast was very average. Basic choice but sausages were tasty. The room we ate in also needed a good clean. Dust and food crumbs all over table base/ floor.
So it was rather a disappointing stay over all. This could be a lovely hotel. But really is in need of a refurb & Upon checking out the receptionist advised us that they had received some quotes for the refurb. If the rooms ( maybe some were better than ours? Not sure?) are in need of refurbishment, then why are they still receiving bookings for those rooms?
Sadly I would not recommend a stay at The Talbot Inn. The only plus was the staff were pleasant
